Others that participated included the Buena Vista Public Library, the Cañon City Public Library, Elbert County Library District, Fort Morgan Public Library, Ira J. Taylor Library-Iliff School of Theology, La Veta Public Library and Las Animas-Bent County Library.

Also participating were the Mancos Public Library, Manitou Springs Library, Rampart Library District, Windsor-Severance Library District, the Woodruff Memorial Library and the Security Public Library.

Traveling hunters issued theft alert

With hunting season opening, the Wheat Ridge Police Department is cautioning travelers – particularly hunters – staying in area hotels to take actions to reduce the possibility of theft.

More than $200,000 worth of trucks, trailers, all-terrain vehicles and hunting gear was stolen from parking lots of Wheat Ridge motels along the Interstate 70 corridor over a week-long period in October last year.

Most victims were from out of state, police said, as they passed through on their way to hunting spots. Their trucks were full of gear, which police said made them easy to identify.

Motels have been asked to post fliers that urge removing all valuables, including guns and credit cards; locking vehicles and gear boxes; cabling trailer wheels to the truck frame; using secondary security devices; parking in well-lit areas; and carrying a list of serial numbers on belongings.
