John Lynch is one of my all-time favorite players in the NFL. How come we haven’t seen one of his bone-crunching hits yet? Is he worried he will be fined?
— Ben Fleishman, Vernon Hills, Ill.
He has been making plays. Perhaps you mean the middle- of-the-field shots? I guess they just haven’t developed. Trust me: Lynch isn’t playing scared.
With the sad passing of Giants owner Wellington Mara, I started wondering: Do you think that when all is said and done, Pat Bowlen has a chance to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, just as Mara and some other owners have been? Bowlen not only has kept the Broncos as maybe the most consistent franchise during his tenure, but also has been very active among his peers on committees and such.
— Joe Burmeister, Rapid City, S.D.
You’re right on the money. Bowlen has a great chance because he is very active in the NFL’s committee and thus is contributing to the league’s betterment. His activity on several key committees and his two Super Bowl rings give him a legitimate chance of landing in Canton.
Ever since I can remember, Broncos offensive linemen have chosen not to talk to the media. However, I have seen recent quotes in the paper provided by offensive tackle George Foster. Has the offensive line made a change of policy?
— Marc Stoecker, Louisville
They have a spokesman every year for the unit. Foster has been the spokesman the past two seasons.
