Denver Nuggets player Andre Miller was arrested on a traffic warrant Wednesday after he failed to appear for a court hearing, authorities said today.

A Colorado State Patrol officer ticketed Miller in Castle Rock in March for having fictitious license plates, failure to have proof of insurance and speeding, said Master Trooper Ron Watkins of the Colorado State Patrol.

A warrant was signed for his arrest on Oct. 5 after he didn’t appear for a scheduled court hearing, Watkins said.

On Wednesday at about 1 p.m., Miller went to the Denver Sheriff’s Office impound lot to pick up his 2003 Silver Lexus, which was stolen on Monday. Police found the car the same day and called Miller.

When the sheriff’s deputy ran Miller’s name he discovered the warrant, Denver police spokesman John White said. The deputy arrested Miller and he was held in the Denver city jail, he said.

Miller was released at 4:45 p.m., hours before the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored 11 points and dished out 11 assists in the loss.

Watkins said about one in five people cited for traffic violations fail to appear on their date and warrants are issued.

Denver Nuggets General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe said Miller has already dealt with the problem.

“I don’t know the whole scenario, but I know they resolved it,” Vandeweghe said. “It was not very complex but they got it straightened out and over. Like the rest of us, it was probably something he forgot about.”
