Faith-based environmental conference|The National Council of Churches and Eco-Justice Ministries is having a regional environmental conference, “Tending the Garden, Cultivating the Commons,” Nov. 4 and 5. David Hallman, climate change coordinator of the World Council of Churches will give a free presentation at 7 p.m. at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia St., Denver. There will be workshops highlighting stewardship of public lands and global climate change from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday No Cost to attend the workshops is $35, (includes continental breakfast, lunch, and light snacks). “Shabbaton”|B’nai Chaim, a Reform Jewish congregation at 13758 W. Marlowe Ave., Morrison, is having a Shabbaton beginning at 7:30 tonight with a Shabbat service and continuing at 10 a.m. Saturday with a Shabbat, lunch, and discussions, crafts and activities for adults, children and families. The Shabbaton will conclude with a spaghetti dinner served by the Youth Group at 6 p.m.

Gospel music workshop|”Gospel Music: A Passionate Heritage,” a workshop led by Don Lewis, who developed and taught it as a course at the University of California at Berkley, will be at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2201 Dexter St., Denver.
