Front Range ‘boarders and riders will find bargains galore at this weekend’s 14th annual Colorado SnowSports Expo.
More than 25,000 people are expected to attend the event, which runs today through Sunday at the Colorado Convention Center.
Over 100 exhibitors will be peddling their wares and winter activities, from Burton to Steamboat ski area. For many Colorado skiers, this is the last chance to buy discounted season passes and four-packs.
Colorado Ski & Golf will feature 10,000 square feet of merchandise, much of it marked down at least 40 percent.
The sporting-goods chain expects to do more than $4 million in sales this weekend and has tripled the amount of kids’ gear and clothing offered this year, said owner Ken Gart.
“The category is strong right now,” he said. “Kids are really returning to skiing, which is a great trend.”
Expo host Colorado Ski Country USA will hand out free discount cards to the state’s “Gems” ski areas, such as Powderhorn and Ski Cooper.
“The resorts are starting to get snow and open up, so this is a great opportunity to figure out exactly where you want to go this season,” said Molly Cuffe, Colorado Ski Country spokeswoman.
Admission to the Expo is $10, but a $3 coupon is available at www.onthesnow.com. Kids age 12 and under get in free.
Copper Mountain is scheduled to crank up its lifts today, becoming the state’s third ski resort to open for the season.
