Nuggets aren’t contenders
I think this needs to be addressed: Last year the Nuggets lost their home opener to the Lakers (the 2004-05 Lakers) because they came out thinking the Lakers were just going to roll over. Not! This year, for the sheer sake of pride, Wednesday night’s game should have been a “W.”
Hey, can someone tell these self-absorbed kids that you need to win the ones you’re suppose to win if you’re ever going to be considered legitimate?
It’s official: The Nuggets are not contenders. They are also-rans. Sorry.

DeBerry’s treatment wrong
Because I could write 10,000 words on how preposterous the reaction has been to Air Force coach Fisher DeBerry’s comments, I’ll just simplify it and ask these questions:
1. What did he say wrong? Is saying a group of people do something at a higher level than other groups derogatory?
2. Is the movie “White Men Can’t Jump” in any way derogatory to whites?

Kiszla a slap to true fans
Mark Kiszla’s Oct. 26 column “America Falls” certainly was a slap in the face to real baseball fans.
The 14-inning game witnessed Oct. 25-26 was an epic battle of historic proportions that enthralled true baseball fans everywhere, yet all the writer could muster was predictable criticism of start times and other nonsense. The tradition, folklore and love of playing the game as well as the untimed, unscripted and imperfect human elements in baseball are what keeps true fans coming back year after year.
Critics like Kiszla endanger these aspects and show their true colors as nonfans. Thank the baseball gods they’re not in charge!
