Where: Fort Lauderdale, during Hurricane Wilma
Best meal: Lots of great seafood in the Fort Lauderdale area. Also, great steak dinners at Damion’s. Best meal was tuna salad and Vienna sausage by candlelight Monday evening after the storm (no electricity).
Best deal: Groceries from the local Publix grocery store before the storm. We purchased a few snacks and water and were very glad to have them after the electricity went out and we couldn’t purchase anything to eat, as all the restaurants were closed.
Best time to go: Anytime other than hurricane season.
Don’t leave home without: Travel insurance … just in case you need to cancel that Caribbean cruise!
