Time flies when you are having fun. The first eight regular-season games and four preseason games zipped past like Tatum Bell in the open field.
That’s because we have a good team with great people on it. There is something to be said about enjoying the time we spend together. Work doesn’t quite feel like work when you like the people you work with and have fun with them.
It certainly does not seem like I have played 12 NFL games. After that many games in college, we would be welcoming the offseason and speculating about who would be getting what postseason accolades. We are just getting into the heart of the NFL season and gearing up for some divisional opponents.
The bye week came at a great time for the team and for me. It gave us a chance to glance back and find areas where we need to improve. Our 6-2 record places this team among the best in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get better. We can draw confidence but not complacency from defeating a few playoff teams and both of the Super Bowl teams from a year ago.

My first eight games were like being back in school with a test every Sunday. I passed some tests and did not do so well on others, but I learned from each one. Although we all hate to falter, some of the best lessons are learned then.
A look back at my play revealed a number of areas that need work and more focus. Luckily for me, there is plenty of time before the final exam, and I have great professors and several experienced tutors.
