Recycle Santa Fe art fest

The Eldorado Hotel, 309 W. San Francisco, Santa Fe, N.M., hosts the Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival on Friday. The festival is a weekend-long affair that includes not only recycled-material art vendors but the famous Trash Fashion and Costume Contest Friday night. Southeast coast on film

Filmmaker John Holod brings his film “The Southeast Coast: Virginia Beach to Key West” to Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia St., Fort Collins, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. The adventure begins in Virginia Beach and follows the coast south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina where the filmmakers try their hand at hang-gliding, take a four-

wheel adventure along the beach to find wild mustangs and explore the lighthouses along the coast. A scenic ferry ride takes the film back to the mainland where it heads to South Carolina and Myrtle Beach, then on to a kayak trip around an island with a pelican rookery, then Hilton Head to find wild dolphins, Georgia saltwater marshes, Sapalo Island, a hike around Cumberland Island and highway A1A south along the Florida coast. Steamboat lifts to open

Steamboat opens for the 2005-06 season Nov. 23. The resort donates the revenue from opening-day lift-ticket sales to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund. Nonstop jet service is offered from Denver to Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, 22 miles from the ski area. More information at steamboat.com.

Thanks at Winter Park

Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner served buffet-style at the mountaintop Lodge at Sunspot in Winter Park on Nov. 24. The Zephyr Express gondola transports guests to the 10,700-foot summit of Winter Park Mountain. Reservations are required and can be made at 970-726-1446.

Ride to the North Pole

North Pole service aboard The Polar Express on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will begin Nov. 25. The story comes to life when the train departs the Durango depot for a one-hour, 15-minute round-trip journey. Once onboard, hot cocoa and cookies are served and passengers read along with the holiday children’s classic book, “The Polar Express.” Santa and his helper greet the train at the North Pole, and then board the train where each child is given the gift of a sleigh bell. Song leaders aboard each car lead the passengers in singing Christmas carols on the ride back to Durango. The journey begins Nov. 25 and runs through Dec. 23. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the adventure.

Estes Park for holidays

Catch the Glow, an annual celebration to kick off the holiday season, is Nov. 25 in Estes Park. Beginning at noon, children will be able to visit with Santa, enjoy hayrides and pony rides and be entertained by characters and animals throughout the downtown area. A stroll in Sheridan

Venture to Sheridan, Wyo., Nov. 25 for its annual Christmas Stroll. Regionally acclaimed, the Historic Main Street District encompasses a live nativity, horse-drawn wagon and trolley rides, live entertainers, Santa Claus visits and fireworks.
