Two men wearing bandanas over their faces drove up to a 23-year-old man standing next to a Westminster street and fatally shot him Thursday night, police said.
Joseph A. Nelson, 23, was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, said Stephanie Topkoff, Westminster police spokeswoman. Police found the man lying in the street at West 76th Avenue and Irving Street after they were called at about 8:45 p.m.
Witnesses said the suspects’ vehicle was traveling south on Irving Street, and one or both of the men inside shot at the victim, according to police.
The suspects’ vehicle, described as a green, late 1990s-model Ford Explorer, sped away westbound on 76th Avenue.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses about the shooting.
