Mexico

Who: Leatrice Garcia, Evan Narvaez, Diane Narvaez and Henry Narvaez, all of Westminster

Where: Isla Mujeres (in front of the Concha Shell House)

Best meal: The all-inclusive resort we stayed at was called The Gala in Playa Del Carmen. It had two restaurants in addition to café- style daily dining. Reserving the Mexican restaurant provided extra-special, authentic-style meals.

Best deal: Taking an all-day trip to Isla Mujeres. The trip included transportation to and from the resort and a boat ride to the island that included breakfast, lunch and free drinks. For a small additional fee you could also go snorkeling and take a golf-cart ride around the island.

Best time to go: If you have a family, leaving early summer (late May, early June) is the best time. You will most likely miss the rainy season.

Don’t leave home without: U.S. currency is accepted almost everywhere; however, change is frequently given in pesos. Take small bills for small purchases and souvenir-buying of less than $50-$100.
