The grandfathers of Aarone Thompson are pleading with the public to help find their granddaughter.
“We’re talking about a six-year-old baby girl and I just plead to anyone who knows anything, who saw anything, please call, said Jessie Cloman, at a press conference held this afternoon.
“I’m here to support my granddaughter,” said Arnold Thompson, who is the father of Aaron Thompson, the little girl’s father who has been described by Aurora police as a “person of interest” in the girl’s disappearance.
Aarone was reported missing on November 14th. Police want to question her father and his girlfriend, Shelley Lowe, in connection with her disappearance. Police have said Aarone may have been killed more than a year ago.
Today Aurora police said the search for Aarone has extended out from Aurora into other cities and states — including Michigan and Florida — although they wouldn’t provide specific details about those locations.
The search at the Aurora home of Aarone Thompson isn’t over, but police wouldn’t comment on what, if anything, has been found there.
Police said they want Thompson and Lowe to agree to a formal interview, which they haven’t done since police declared the case a homicide investigation last Thursday.
“We really would like to interview the parents of Aarone,” said police spokesman Marcus Dudley, Jr. “We have specific questions we would like for them to answer for us. In another attempt for them to be cooperative with this investigation, we hope they’ll be able to sit down with us and have an official conversation about what happened.”
“If you want to continue the investigation that’s fine, but would somebody please help us find our child?” said Rev. Acen Phillips of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, who helped coordinate the press conference with the grandfathers.
“We all need to know who took this child and where the child is and whether the child is alive or dead,” Phillips said.
