The Colorado State women’s basketball team downed Cal-Irvine 85-65 on Saturday in the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational at Moby Arena.
The Rams (3-1) had five players score in double-figures, including Melissa Dennett and Lindsay Thomas, who both recorded double-doubles. Dennett scored a game-high 18 points and added 11 rebounds. Thomas hit 10 points and 11 rebounds. Liz Kramer and Marilyn Moulton each added 15 points for CSU.
Lauren Yadon led Irvine (0-3) with 16 points.
The Rams led 37-27 at halftime, but the Anteaters cut the lead to 39-35 less than three minutes into the second half. But CSU went on a 12-2 run that ended with a Sara Hunter 3-pointer for a 47-37 lead with 15:10 remaining. Hunter finished with 10 points.
With nine minutes remaining, CSU got its biggest lead of the game, 79-54, and coasted the rest of the way.
