Tailback and linebacker Lamarr Houston of Doherty High School has a shot at becoming Colorado’s second national player of the year after Gatorade on Tuesday selected him as the Colorado player of the year.
Jeff Byers of Loveland won the national award in 2003. Houston, a 6-foot-4, 255-pounder who will play at Texas next season, has rushed for 1,420 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.
