The hoopla leading to Saturday’s Colorado High School Activities Association’s Class 5A and 4A football championships at Invesco Field at Mile High continued to grow Thursday.
CollegeInColorado.org announced it will award two $1,000 college scholarships to students through a random drawing of seat numbers, one during each game.
As part of the College Fair program at the stadium, 21 in-state colleges will have representatives and materials available, including Colorado Christian University, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Colorado State University, Community College of Denver, Fort Lewis College, Red Rocks Community College, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado-Denver, University of Northern Colorado and Western State College, which support the funding of the scholarships.
“Championship Saturday at Invesco Field is a milestone event for Colorado high school football,” Rick O’Donnell, executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, said in a statement. “CollegeInColorado.org is proud to keep the focus of the day on students by providing the scholarships and college fare to support them today and in the future.”
