
By midday today, subzero Denver temperatures had eased only slightly, with the mercury topping zero by one degree.
9NEWS meteorologist Nick O’Kelly said that the arctic cold snap blanketing Colorado is nearly a record. The historic low for Dec. 7th was 12 degrees below zero. Just before 8 a.m. this morning, Denver’s official temperature was minus 11.
Factoring in a slight breeze, it feels like nearly 7 degrees below zero, he said.
Denver’s high was expected to top out at 8 degrees.
In Laramie, Wyo., the temperature was 8 degrees below zero at mid-day.
Tonight’s overnight low for Denver was forecast for minus 5 degrees, with temperatures returning to the 30s tomorrow and to the 40s by Friday.
