
Blakelee Midyett, a senior at Golden High School, has a 3.98 grade-point average and is ranked No. 11 in her class of 286.
Blakelee is the captain for the girls basketball team, the Demons. She is also involved in track and plays volleyball.
She received the Jefferson County League Track First Team All Conference award last spring. She also has been named the most valuable volleyball player and “Demon of the Year.”
Blakelee has won several awards, including the Brown University Book Award, the Outstanding Junior in Art Award and the Golden High School Rotary Youth Leadership Award.
Blakelee has played piano for 11 years and has competed in the Maurice S. Thomas Memorial Piano Competition. Her favorite composer is Beethoven.
As a volunteer, she has worked as a receptionist for the Golden Pioneer Museum and as a tour guide for the museum’s Holiday House tours. Blakelee was also a student interviewer for Golden High when the school was searching for an athletic director and an assistant principal.
She has signed on early to play basketball in the fall of 2006 with the Colorado School of Mines. She plans to major in math or economics.
