About 100 residents of the Terrace Gardens Apartments at 7131 Hooker St. in Westminster were displaced Tuesday night when the building’s boiler exploded about 8 p.m., said Laura Koppel, spokeswoman for the Westminster Fire Department.
Two maintenance workers were working on the boiler at the time of the explosion, she said. Both were injured. Their names weren’t immediately available.
None of the residents was injured, Koppel said. Residents said the walls shook from the blast, and many windows were broken. Koppel said most of the residents were able to find temporary shelter with family or friends, but the Fire Department and the American Red Cross were working with seven families to help find housing.
