Owens reaches CC hockey milestone
Colorado College hockey coach Scott Owens reached a major milestone Friday, becoming the winningest coach in school history with his 167th victory as the Tigers downed Alaska-Anchorage 5-4 at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
Owens surpassed Jeff Sauer and Don Lucia on the school’s coaching list.
The Tigers twice fell behind the Seawolves, but Aaron Slattengren scored two goals and had two assists to lead CC. Slattengren’s goal midway through the third period, unassisted on a power play, proved the game-winner. In the second period, the Tigers’ Brett Sterling scored his 19th goal of the season to bolster his NCAA lead in goals.
