Jeff Tweedy, frontman for the alt-country icons Wilco, returns to the road in January for his second acoustic tour in three months. He is bringing along Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco released its first live album, the two-CD set “Kicking Television – Live in Chicago,” in November. Tweedy and Kotche play the Gothic Theatre on Feb. 16. Ely Guerra has been recording her Mexican alt-rock music for 13 years. But the Mexican-born singer/songwriter released her first album in the United States in 2002. She followed “Lotofire” with “Sweet & Sour, Hot y Spicy” in 2004. Guerra comes to the Gothic Theatre on Jan. 22. Tickets go on sale today ($25, TicketWeb or Ticketmaster).
Peter Cincotti was named “best new star” in 2004 by the jazz publication Swing Journal. But some already refer to the singer-pianist as a bona fide jazz great. Cincotti, who performs his own compositions as well as putting his special twist on the works of other songwriters, has been called “prodigiously talented” by The New York Times. He appears at the Newman Center on Jan. 21. Tickets are on sale ($25- $55, Ticketmaster).
Rachel Barton Pine teams up with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic for two shows in January. The concert features Pine performing Mendel-
ssohn’s Violin Concerto, Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis.” The violinist comes to the Pikes Peak Center for concerts on Jan. 21 and 22. Lawrence Leighton Smith conducts. Tickets are on sale ($12- $50, TicketsWest).
