Colorado State went on an 18-5 run to end the first half and cruised to a 106-80 victory Wednesday over Colorado-Colorado Springs at Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

After P.J. Forrest scored to cut the Mountain Lions’ deficit to 40-35, the Rams’ Jason Smith scored his team’s next 10 points, including two 3-pointers, keying the run.

Smith, a 7-foot sophomore from Platte Valley High School, led all scorers with 19 points and was one of six Rams who scored in double figures. Sean Morris scored 15 points off the bench, Michael Harrison added 14 and Stephan Gilling had 13.

CSU’s Andrew Patterson and Ryan Brown each scored 10 points.

UCCS was led by Bly McGuire’s 18 points. Leo Thomas added 15, Bryan Snyder 13 and Forrest 11 for the Mountain Lions.

It was the first game in nearly four seasons in which CSU scored more than 100 points. Its 106 points are the eighth-highest in school history and the 20th time the Rams have scored more than 100.

Regis 104, Judson (Ill.) 56

The Rangers held the Eagles to 21 second-half points and scored more than 100 points for the first time this season. Jay Goral led Regis with 17 points. Slade Bigelow and Brandon Butler had 16 each.

Jesten Boyd led Judson with 18 points.

WOMEN

Colorado broke open a 21-21 game at halftime to beat South Dakota State 64-50 at the Coors Events Center in Boulder. Jasmina Ilic scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Buffaloes.

Jackie McFarland added 15 and Yari Escalera scored 14. Megan Vogel led the Jackrabbits with 18.

Regis 94, Judson (Ill.) 84

Regis University’s Diana Lopez scored a game-high 31 points, leading the host Rangers over Judson (Ill.) College. Lopez, the RMAC’s second-leading scorer this season, with an average of 19.5 points per game, hit 7-of-10 shots during the second half.
