Justin Williams scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked six shots Saturday afternoon to lead Wyoming to a 58-48 win over Weber State.
Wyoming (7-5) held on down the stretch with strong free- throw shooting, hitting 18-of-21 from the line during the second half, including seven of its last eight.
Williams, who has struggled at times from the line, made 9-of-11 free-throw attempts, his best mark this season.
Steve Leven hit two 3-pointers in the first three minutes for Wyoming as it opened the game on a 7-0 run.
Williams’ three-point play later in the half capped an 11-3 run that put the Cowboys up 20-9 with 5:39 left before halftime.
The Wildcats (6-7) came back, hitting two 3-pointers to finish off a 13-4 run that pulled them within 24-22 at halftime.
The Wildcats took their first lead in the second half after a Riggs layup capped a 6-2 Weber State run for a 38-36 advantage with 11:45 to go.
Riggs later scored five straight points as the Wildcats mounted a comeback with a 9-2 run that brought them within 51-47 with 1:35 to go in the game. But it wasn’t enough and Wyoming held on for the win.
Wyoming made just 15-of-49 attempts, 30.6 percent, and Weber State hit only 17-of-52.
California Baptist 76, Fort Lewis 58: The Skyhawks’ poor shooting and weak rebounding cost them in their second road loss in three days.
Cal Baptist (6-4) outrebounded Fort Lewis 40-36 and held the Skyhawks to 31 percent shooting.
Guy Meyer paced the Skyhawks (8-3) with 15 points. Geoff Willcox came off the bench to score 10 points.
Fort Lewis had a cold shooting performance, making 31.1 percent from the floor (19-of-61).
Calvin College 86, Colorado Christian 75: Andy Draayer scored a game-high 24 points as the visiting Knights from Grand Rapids, Mich., defeated the Cougars in Lakewood.
Kyle Snoeyink and Caleb Veldhouse added 13 points each for the Knights (6-3).
Brian Stamer and Peter Bailey each recorded double-doubles, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars fell to 4-6. Stamer had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Bailey had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Northern Arizona 100, Johnson & Wales 52: Ruben Boykin Jr. had 20 points and 13 rebounds, helping Northern Arizona defeat Johnson & Wales.
Will Hensley added 14 points for the Lumberjacks (8-6).
Ryuji Brumley and Eric Daniels scored 17 points each for Johnson & Wales (0-19).
Lubbock Christian 72, Adams State 61: Max Eding scored 23 points to lead host Lubbock Christian (4-7) to a victory over the Grizzlies (5-6). Lubbock led 34-22 at the half. Roman Moniak and Greg Baker each had 13 points for the Grizzlies.
