Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer says the key to winning Sunday’s AFC championship game is to keep on doing what the team has been doing, all season long.

“We’re putting ourselves in position to do something real special, and all of us are having fun,” he said at a press conference today at noon at Broncos headquarters.

Plummer cited coach Mike Shanahan’s efforts to keep the team focused on business, despite the excitement of the team’s advancement in the playoffs, and the distraction of having extra family and friends in town.

“You prepare the same way you do during the regular season, obviously there are lot more distractions,” said Shanahan when he took his turn at the microphone.

Shanahan said he has a high level of respect for the Steelers, because of their consistent play for the past five years.

“They’re very well-coached, they know what they’re doing, they’ve been great all season long,” he said.

Shanahan also praised Plummer’s performance this season.

“It’s always tough following a legend,” he said, referring to former Broncos quarterback John Elway. “Obviously expectations are very high, and I think Jake has handled that very well.”
