Brad Neher was named the interim coach for the University of Colorado golf program. For the past six years, Neher was an assistant to Mark Simpson, who passed away Dec. 5, athletic director Mike Bohn said Thursday.
Neher will coach the team until a new full-time coach is named this spring. Neher earned two letters on the Buffaloes golf team, playing from 1992-94 for Simpson. He later played professionally.
Former CU assistant catches on at Virginia
The University of Virginia football team hired former Colorado offensive line coach Dave Borbely. He spent four years at Colorado and previously coached at Notre Dame, Stanford, Tulane, Temple and Rice.
DU gymnastics team opens home schedule
The University of Denver gymnastics team, ranked No. 18 in the nation, hosts Brown and Towson in its home opener today.
The Pioneer Alumni Classic begins at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Gymnasium. Denver (2-3) has won seven consecutive home-opening meets, all under coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart.
