HOT TIX
The Strokes are on a British tour but have announced a U.S. tour. So far, the group has announced it will play 17 cities in support of its new album, “First Impressions of Earth.” It is No.32 on the Billboard 200 after debuting three weeks ago at No.4. The Strokes’ first U.S. tour in two years brings them to the Fillmore Auditorium on March 19. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($25-$30, Ticketmaster).
“Princess Classic” is the latest from Disney on Ice. It features animated Disney female characters, including Ariel, Cinderella and Snow White. The show visits the Denver Coliseum on March 8-12. Tickets are on sale ($12-$60, Ticketmaster).
James Blunt can boast of the top-selling album of 2005, “Back to Bedlam,” in the United Kingdom. With its huge single hit “You’re Beautiful,” the CD sold almost 2.4 million copies. It has taken the CD longer to catch on in the U.S. But it now rests at No.9 on the Top 200 chart, its highest rank after 10 weeks on the list. Blunt comes to the Paramount Theatre on March 30. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($25-$32.50, Ticketmaster).
Cris Williamson is on tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of “The Changer and the Changed,” the first album created solely by women and released on a women-only record label, Olivia Records. It is one of the best-selling independent records ever. Williamson is a pioneer of women’s music. Her musical career was held back because she came out as a lesbian in the 1970s, when such a pronouncement scuttled a deal with any major record company. Her tour stops at the Boulder Theater on April 15. Tickets are on sale ($26.50-$31.50, 303-786-7030).
