Aurora – John Thompson has been named head football coach at Class 5A Smoky Hill.
The Buffaloes, who have not had a winning record since 1990, had previous assistant Dennis Frederick as head coach last season on an interim basis.
A Smoky Hill graduate and mathematics teacher, Thompson had been an assistant at district-rival Cherry Creek.
Also, Jenny Perizzolo takes over field hockey from Mike Renes, and Brian Manley will head cross country after Greg Weich resigned after 12 years.
