It’s pretty clear who Donald Trump wants voters to hire as Florida’s next governor.

Trump, the mega-developer and star of NBC’s “The Apprentice,” was to open his opulent seaside Mar-a-Lago mansion Friday night for a fundraiser to benefit Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist.

It’s the second time Trump has hosted a fundraiser for Crist, Florida’s attorney general and the decisive leader in campaign contributions in Florida’s race for governor. Trump, known for his “You’re Fired!” catchphrase on his TV show, also held a fundraiser in New York for Crist last summer.

The Donald and The Trump Organization company have so far contributed $23,650 to candidates for federal office in the 2006 election cycle, according to federal records collected by the Washington-based Center for Responsive Politics.

Trump has given money to candidates from both parties and both ends of the political spectrum.

Lawyers for Marlon Brando‘s estate have settled a sexual harassment and unlawful termination lawsuit against the late actor’s estate by his former business manager, attorneys said.

Details of the settlement, described as “amicable” by lawyers for Jo An Corrales of Kalama, Wash., were not released.

Corrales filed her lawsuit against the Brando estate in Los Angeles Superior Court in April. She alleged the actor had insulted her and subjected her to sexual innuendo, and that he exposed his genitals, touched her inappropriately, forced her to watch pornographic movies with him, and told her dirty autobiographical stories.

Even after 30-plus years and dozens of hits, James Taylor admits he remains mystified by the music business. “I try to focus on the heart of what I do – write, record and perform,” he said.

“I’ve never been much of a businessman. I’ve had a lot of help from people who’ve kept their eye on the other aspects of it.”

All eyes will be on Taylor, 57, when he is honored as Musi Cares Person of the Year by the Recording Academy tonight to kick off Grammy week.

“It’s going to be like some kind of torture,” he said, jokingly.

The city of Newark, N.J., has presented Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons the key to the city for his work with young people.

About 2,000 students from Weequahic High School attended the presentation last week for Simmons, 48, creator of HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” and chairman of Rush Communications, which includes Simmons’ Phat clothing empire.

Comedian Mohr engaged to “Vegas” star Cox

Jay Mohr and Nikki Cox are engaged, Cox’s publicist has announced.

The couple plan to marry next winter, publicist Alisha Mahon said Friday.

Cox plays Mary Connell on NBC’s “Las Vegas.” She and Mohr, host of “Last Comic Standing,” met when Mohr guest-starred on the Sin City drama, Mahon said.

Mohr, a comedian, has appeared in films including “Jerry Maguire,” “Go” and “Suicide Kings.” He was a member of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” from 1993 to 1995.

Cox, 27, was previously engaged to comedian Bob Goldthwait.

Mohr, 35, was married to model Nicole Chamberlain for six years. They had one child together before divorcing in 2004.
