Goose festival
The fourth annual High Plains Snow Goose Festival has been scheduled for Feb. 24-26, with Lamar as center of operations. In addition to the many thousands of snow geese that pass through the lower Arkansas River Valley at this time, participants will be able to view bald eagles and other raptors. Walleye junction
Colorado Fisherman Magazine has joined with the Colorado Walleye Association in a joint venture for mutual promotion. CWA has named the Colorado Springs-based publication its official publication; the magazine will provide the angler group with an avenue for distribution of information and angler education.
Holder honored
The National Wild Turkey Federation has selected Bob Holder of Trinidad as its 2005 wildlife officer of the year in Colorado. Holder, a 30-year Division of Wildlife veteran, was cited for his work in creating new public land hunting opportunity by transplanting birds.
