Kansas State edged Colorado 67-62 in a Big 12 conference game at the Coors Events Center in Boulder on Wednesday in a game that was tied seven times and had 11 lead changes.
CU led 25-24 at halftime, but Kansas State capitalized on Buffs turnovers to pull away. The Wildcats led by as many as eight in the second half.
Former Monarch High School standout Kimberly Dietz scored 12 points to pace Kansas State (17-5, 7-4 Big 12), which finished with a 16-9 edge in points scored off turnovers.
Yari Escalera scored 18 points to lead Colorado (7-16, 2-9).
Dionne Marsh scored 21 points as No. 20 New Mexico routed Colorado State 85-51 in Albuquerque.
New Mexico (17-6, 7-3 Mountain West) snapped a two-game losing streak and avoided losing three in a row for the first time in nearly six years. The Lobos also extended their home winning streak in the conference to 32 games.
Colorado State (8-13, 2-8) has lost eight of nine. Molly Nohr and Melissa Dennett each scored 12 points to lead the Rams. Colorado State did not shoot a free throw until the 11:50 mark of the second half.
Western Kentucky ended Denver’s two-game winning streak with a 63-45 victory over the Pioneers at Magness Arena.
Cyrstal Kelly scored 16 points to lead Western Kentucky (17-6, 7-2 Sun Belt), while Tyesha Lowery scored 11 to pace Denver (11-11, 5-6).
Letricia Castillo scored 17 points as Air Force routed San Diego State 74-45 at Clune Arena. It was Air Force’s first victory at home in conference play this season and the team’s 29-point margin was the largest in school history for a Division I conference game.
Natasha Lacy scored 21 points, leading TCU (12-8) to a 67-59 victory over Wyoming (15-6) in Fort Worth, Texas.
