So much for a Valentine’s Day surprise.

The Daily Mirror says Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton, left, plan a romantic holiday this weekend at a cottage on Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral estate in Scotland. The couple have not spent any time alone since William began officer training at Sandhurst Academy five weeks ago.

Janet Jackson’s recent weight gain was for a film role that fell through, her boyfriend, music producer Jermaine Dupri, told the New York Times. Jackson gained more than 40 pounds for “an indie role,” said Dupri of his girlfriend of six years. Dupri said Jackson upped her weight to 160 pounds to portray a mother in the Deep South.

Jamie Foxx is using his Oscar fame to his advantage. The Academy Award winner recently told Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show: “I was trying to sell this Bentley that I had. It was a ’96 big yellow Bentley. I took it to the guy and he said I can’t give you any money for this. And I said, you know whose Bentley this is – don’t you watch cable? – and he said ‘I don’t care.’ So I put it on eBay and I put ‘Jamie Foxx Academy Award winner’ and with a picture of me and it sold for like $150,000.”

Maybe Pierce Brosnan is better off distancing himself from his James Bond persona. Two people with links to the British spy film are in legal trouble.

Irvin Allen, who appeared in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” and “The Spy Who Loved Me,” is on trial for murdering his wife, Chamlong Allen, a year ago. Allen, 71, is on trial for allegedly cutting his wife’s throat and leaving her body in a garage on April 27, 2005.

Lee Tamahori, who directed “Die Another Day,” was arraigned last week in Los Angeles on solicitation charges. Tamhori allegedly offered to perform a sex act on an undercover police officer.

Meanwhile, Samantha Bond has said she’s done with the Bond role of Miss Moneypenny, contactmusic.com reported. Bond – yes, that’s her name- played the role in four Bond films. “I’ve been the only modern Moneypenny to snog Bond, so to do it with another leading man would be like being unfaithful,” she said.

Jackson has help in voting for Oscar

Samuel L. Jackson, talking to Fox News Channel’s Bill McCuddy, revealed how he votes on the Oscars: “The maid has watched (the nominee DVDs), the cook’s probably watched a lot of them, the nanny has too. And they go by and put their check marks down on the ballot because they know you’re not going to do it. And then the assistant goes by – ‘Oh, it’s time for the ballot to go in. Oh, he hasn’t filled this in.”

Jackson added he looks to “see if any of my friends are nominated, and I vote for them. Then I leave the ballot there for my wife to vote for all the other films that she watched that I knew I wasn’t gonna watch … I trust her opinion. And then we send the ballot in.”
