Classes dig into native plants

Classes about native plants will be offered by the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Service.

The classes will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The schedule is: May 6, 13, and 20 at Mount Falcon Open Space Park; June 3, 10 and 17 at Lair o’ the Bear Open Space Park; July 8, 15 and 22 at Reynolds Open Space Park; and Sept. 9, 16 and 23 at the Plains Conservation Center. The fee is $85, and applications are due March 17. For more information, call 303-271-6646.

Mines to host state science bowl

Forty teams from 26 high schools compete Saturday in the Colorado Science Bowl at Colorado School of Mines. The winners go to the National Science Bowl in the Washington area April 27 to May 1. The state bowl runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Alderson Hall.
