Victoria, Texas – Former Broncos defensive tackle Bud McFadin, a five-time Pro Bowl lineman who spent 11 years in the NFL, died at 77.

He died Monday in a hospital in Victoria, where he had lived since 1980.

McFadin was an All-American guard in 1950 for Texas. The next year he was drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Rams, where he starred for five seasons. He played six seasons in the AFL with the Broncos and Houston Oilers.

McFadin played for the Broncos from 1960-63 and appeared in all 56 games for the team during that period. He was named an Associated Press all-pro in each of his four seasons in Denver and participated in the AFL All-Star Game from 1961-63.

McFadin became the Oilers’ defensive line coach in 1966-70. He left football to concentrate on ranching in West Texas until he moved to Victoria 10 years later.
