Q: Hey Scott, we live in L.A. but are really interested in moving to Denver Metro, we have visited and really like the Saddle Rock Golf Club area in south Aurora.
My question to you is whether or not you feel this is a good place to raise a family, as I’ve heard from sources that Aurora is vulnerable to high crime rates.
I would really appreciate your advice on this. Thanks
SCOTT: Adjacent to Denver, “Fletcher” — as it was called back when it was founded in 1891 — officially became “Aurora” in 1907. It also adopted a city seal with a rising sun to represent the rising community and five stars that represent home, church, school, business and industry.
Who knew? Well, it sounds like the perfect place to raise a family, but what about crime? I could not locate a single indication of that on the city seal so I checked the official homepage of the for a reality check.
A search on the website failed to produce a single noteworthy crime-related item. Huh, I guess they don’t have any.
Yeah, rigggght!
With a population of over 300,000, which qualifies it as Colorado’s third-largest city, we know better. I dug a little deeper on the ‘net and located the invaluable website , which contains more statistical information on Fletcher/Aurora than you’d ever want to know.
Here’s the best part: you can even generate an online chart and graph of comparative crime ratios of any two cities in the nation and it’s free!
They don’t call me Great Scott for nothing!
