Remodeling mag goes online

Renew, Colorado’s remodeling magazine, has launched a website (www.renewmagazine.com) aimed at helping homeowners improve their dwellings. The site includes photos and stories on getting the remodeling job done right, as well as information on seminars and other events to help people improve their homes. Started in 2001, Renew has introduced Colorado residents to remodelers, lenders, designers, landscaping experts and others who help people with home improvement.

Affordable units built

Shaw Builders has completed Springbrook Apartments, a 120-unit affordable housing complex on East 78th Avenue between Washington and York streets in Adams County. Units in the complex range from 700 to 900 square feet and are available to households earning 40 percent to 50 percent of the area median income. The complex, on 8.5 acres, includes five buildings, a clubhouse, a playground and 180 parking spaces.

Erie condominiums selling well

More than half of the 408 condos in Frontier Communities’ Blue Sky at Vista Ridge in Erie have sold. The condos, located on the Vista Ridge golf course just west of Interstate 25 and the Northwest Parkway, are priced from $150,000. They range from 1,003 square feet to more than 1,500 square feet. Amenities include a clubhouse, 24-hour fitness center, adult swimming pool, year-round hot tub and business center. Model homes and sales office are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information: www.myfrontierhome.com.

30-year mortgage rates inch up for 4th week

Rates on 30-year mortgages edged up for a fourth straight week, rising to the highest level in two months. Freddie Mac reported Thursday that rates on 30-year mortgages rose to 6.28 percent, up from 6.24 percent the week before. Below are average mortgage rates in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties as of Thursday and the previous 52 weeks. The one-year Treasury bill average reported by the Federal Reserve Bank is 4.67 percent, up from 4.60 percent the previous week. The Cost of Funds Index for December from the Federal Home Loan Bank (11th District) was 3.296 percent.
