
The driver of a fuel tanker truck was killed when it caught fire in a crash early Monday on South Santa Fe Drive in Englewood. The roadway was closed for several hours while the blaze was allowed to burn out.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified, was found dead in the truck in the 4900 block of South Santa Fe Drive after the fire was out, according to a news release from the Englewood Police Department. The release did not specify the driver’s age or gender. The driver will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
The fire also damaged a neighboring U-Haul business and multiple vehicles were affected by the fire, the release stated.

At least 15 units responded to the blaze, which was allowed to burn itself out, said Matthew Assell, a public information officer with South Metro Fire Rescue.
The truck was pulled over to the side of the road and not at a gas station when it caught fire.
Personnel from the Littleton and Sheridan police departments, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Denver Fire Department, the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency also assisted with the crash and fire.
