Seated snow riders will rally at Durango Mountain Resort this week for the fourth annual International Skibike Festival. For nearly 50 years, Europeans have regarded the skibike – over there “skibobs” – simply as an efficient transportation tool on snowy terrain. But a small troop of snow bikers recently began trumpeting the skibike as a nifty snow toy. The Durango festival celebrates the skibike with the world’s top seated schussers racing their bikes down snowy slopes. The big air contest is a must-see for carnage lovers. Free gear demos and lessons will anchor the event, which runs Wednesday-Sunday.
