Weather man Mike Nelson reads for kids

10:30 A.M. | KMGH-Channel 7 chief meteorologist Mike Nelson will read stories for children at the Tattered Cover in LoDo, 1628 16th St. The special story time is scheduled as part of the “Read With Your Child 15 Minutes a Day” literacy-awareness program.

Ruth Todd painting retrospective

5-8:30 P.M. | Ruth Todd may be 96, but she is still going strong, creating paintings and collages in her home on Kearney Street. An exhibition opening today and running through April 1 at Sandra Phillips Gallery, 744 Santa Fe Dr., pays tribute to her amazing career, which included New York gallery exhibitions in the 1950s and ’60s that were reviewed in ARTnews magazine. Bringing the prairie home

7 P.M. | The 2006 Bonfils-Stanton Lecture Series continues with “Establishing a Prairie Meadow in Your Own Back Yard,” with Neil Diboll, at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1005 York St. Participants will learn to combine native flowers and prairie grasses for a low-maintenance garden.
