Mastroeni to suit up for U.S. against Poland

U.S. men’s national team coach Bruce Arena on Wednesday included Rapids captain Pablo Mastroeni on the 20-man roster for the team’s only official international fixture game – against Poland on March 1 in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Two Crush games land in AFL’s top 20

The Arena Football league included two Colorado Crush games and a Denver Dynamite game from 1987 in the league’s 20 greatest-ever games, a list in honor of the league’s 20th season.

The Crush’s 49-43 victory over Chicago in last season’s playoffs was voted No. 7 on the list, and Colorado’s subsequent 51-48 win over Georgia in ArenaBowl XIX was pegged No. 14. The Dynamite’s 52-44 win over Chicago in 1987, the second AFL game played, was voted 20th.

DU women’s golf falls to 10th in Florida

The University of Denver women’s golf team placed 10th at the Pat Bradley Women’s Golf Championship at Miccosukee Golf and Country Club in Miami, dropping from seventh place after the first day to finish at 29-over-par 321, 37 strokes behind the winner, Augusta (Ga.) State. Emily Hoeper led the Pioneers, finishing in a tie for 15th place at 8-over 227, 13 strokes behind the winner, Stacey Tate of Memphis.

Metro State signs South High School defender

Bradley Gorham of Denver’s South High School has signed a national letter of intent to play men’s soccer at Metro State, beginning with the 2006 season. Gorham, a defender, played club soccer with the Colorado Rush.
