Kaia Erickson-Pearson, a senior at Heritage High School in Littleton, has a 4.94 weighted grade- point average.
Kaia is the coordinator of the National Honor Society’s tutoring activities in Littleton Public Schools. She is a tutor at East Elementary, where she works with immigrant students; at Powell Middle School, as a coach for the MathCounts program; at Damon Runyon Elementary; and at Heritage High School, as a peer tutor.
She has taken 12 Advanced Placement courses and has been a teaching assistant for the AP physics class this year.
Kaia completed all the requirements for high school graduation at the end of the fall 2005 semester and is spending the spring semester as a Volunteer for Peace in Italy and Estonia, working on environmental projects in support of sustainable agriculture and rural development.
Kaia is a Boettcher Scholarship finalist, as well as an Advanced Placement National Scholar and Scholar of Distinction.
Kaia has received a $60,000 scholarship if she chooses to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. She is still considering several colleges and plans a career in epidemiology. She would like to serve as a public health physician or a medical anthropologist in Africa, working to combat HIV and other diseases.
