Today Overland High School principal Jana Frieler welcomed teacher Jay Bennish back to the “Blazer” family, while asking the public to allow school to return to the business of education.
Reading from a prepared statement in front of Overland’s snowy grounds, Frieler said the school has “a long tradition of excellence here of which we are very proud. Schools operate similar to families and we are working hard to make sure that our Blazer family gets back to what’s important here at Overland academics.”
Bennish became the center of controversy over the last week and a half when recorded comments he made, comparing President Bush to Adolf Hitler, were made public.
He had been on paid administrative leave since March 1.
