Ween and The Flaming Lips would seem obvious choices to co-headline at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Both built rabid fanbases via fearless, drug-fueled experimentation. Both defy tidy labels, straddling indie rock, psychedelic and post-punk. And they are not afraid of offending or confusing audiences. Their July 29 show with The Go! Team promises to be one of the hottest tickets of the summer. On sale Saturday at 10 a.m. ($35.50- $40.50, Ticketmaster)
Massive Attack may be credited with inventing trip-hop, but history will likely remember it as so much more than that stale tag. DJs and wannabes have cribbed the band’s style for years, even if the its influence extends far beyond its limited output. Tickets for the April 28 show at the Fillmore Auditorium go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. ($35, Ticketmaster)
Live seemed dead and buried a few years ago as commercial overexposure and shifting tastes cast a pall over its earnest, self-righteous ballads. But don’t underestimate nostalgia for those ’90s alt-rock anthems. Tickets to a May 19 stop at the Paramount Theatre go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($30-$35, Ticketmaster).
Aerosmith has canceled the remaining dates of its tour to allow singer Steven Tyler to undergo vocal cord surgery. Refunds for the April 13 Pepsi Center show are available through Ticketmaster and all points of purchase.
Les Misérables makes its eighth and – its producer swears last – national touring stop in Denver May 3-7 at the Buell Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Sunday ($20-$70, 303-893-4100 or TicketsWest.
