Show marks Mesa Verde milestone
Mesa Verde National Park and the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College are opening a major exhibit to commemorate the park’s 100th birthday from 5 to 7 tonight at the center.
The exhibit, which can be viewed from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday through Oct. 29, features sections on archaeology, rock art, Navajo masonry, fire, park ranger life, ancient and contemporary pottery, tourism and other topics spanning the park’s centennial and 10,000 years of human habitation in the Four Corners. Tonight’s reception will feature an Indian choir and remarks by college president Brad Bartel.
The center is also offering the Mesa Verde Lecture Series. For more information on the series and centennial activities throughout the year, call 970-247-7456 or visit swcenter.fortlewis.edu or www.nps.gov/meve/home.htm.
