Getting your player ready...

Want to work out with Paula Abdul and some apheerleaders? You can do it with Abdul’s “Cardio Cheer,” a $14.23, five-DVD set with the “American Idol” star and cheerleaders Candace Jones and Renee Herlocker.

And they put you through it. Abdul is a former Lakers cheerleader, so she has a few moves. But Jones and Herlocker have even more, appearing on three of the five discs.

Jones says they shot the footage over two weeks in California, up at 4:30 a.m. and dancing all day. “It was awesome,” she says.

The promo material explains that on Disc 1, Jones gets you warmed up with a full workout and a 90-second blast that “prepares your body to deal with anything you might throw at it.”

Herlocker on Disc 3 “has all the moves. … From basic claps to lunges, the High V and Low V, dagger position and reaches, your moves will sparkle. Fun has never been so precise.”

Jones returns on Disc 4. “When she says ‘Jump,’ you say, ‘How high?’ … This workout will leave you feeling the burn.”

Burn, baby, burn.

Leggy conservative Ann Coulter comes to the Paramount Theatre on Tuesday night – with “The World According to Ann Coulter.” Tix seems a tad pricy at $40-$60, but students can get in for $20.

Coulter was skedded to speak at the Buell in 2003 as part of the Unique Lives & Experiences series. It was announced in my column on Oct. 6, 2002. By the end of the month, Coulter had been yanked and replaced by Patty Duke. Series producer Nancy Rebek vividly recalls the reaction to the announcement. “It became rapidly apparent that she was not the best choice for our audience, because we received so much immediate negative feedback.”

Seems that Denver’s liberal ladies, who buy up this series, didn’t want to hear Coulter. For the rest of you, here’s your chance.

City spirit

Chinook Tavern just received a nice review from The Post’s Tucker Shaw – which got me thinking. Don’t you think that bartender/owner Clemens Georg looks just like Overland High teacher Jay Bennish? … Aspenite/actress Judith Light and “The Sopranos”‘ Robert Desiderio were honored Saturday night at the Matthew Shepard Foundation Dinner at the Westin Tabor Center. There was also a celeb-signed Teddy Bear auction with bears from Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, Pink and Pamela Anderson … Sez who: “There is no such thing as inner peace. There is only nervousness and death.” Fran Lebowitz
