Where the snow goes
The Beginnings of Waterfalls, Pools and Grottos
1-3 P.M., Castlewood Canyon State Park, 5 miles south of Franktown on Colorado 83. Call 303-688-5242 to reserve.
You lived through the snow last weekend, now consider where all that white stuff goes in a guided nature walk around one of Colorado’s most underappreciated state parks. Meet volunteer naturalist Ron Claussen at the visitors center, and he’ll guide you into the canyon where there still may be a frozen waterfall or two, maybe some early-blooming wildflowers and, if luck holds out, a few bluebirds too. Free with park admission.
