Red light district, revisited. Saturday

Lots of us know that downtown Denver’s history is a colorfully Western one, and that our gun-slingin’ vigilantes are prominent in stories of days of yore.

We also know that the new city was riddled with over 1,100 prostitutes, but the topic always seems to be breezed over by city tour guides and history buffs.

Fortunately, for those with a more curious instinct, Cheryl Siebert Waite has uncovered a lot more information about Denver’s ordinances regarding the world’s oldest profession, and will be presenting her discoveries on Denver’s “Disorderly Women” this Saturday at the Blair-Caldwell Library.

What: “Denver’s Disorderly Women”

Where: Blair-Caldwell Library, 2401 Welton Street, Third Floor, 2 p.m.

Cost: Free (donations welcome)

Rise. Yawn. Stretch. Eat. Drink. Merriment ensues. All weekend

Saturday and Sunday mornings can be brutal for some, and the ever-present question “Where are we going for brunch?” is often ubiquitous throughout our weekends.

If you tend to lean towards the seat-yourself, would-you-like-a-bloody-mary-with-your-greek-pita-or-pancake-breakfast kinda place, Chef Zorba’s Cuisine might be a good match for your weekend morning-turned-afternoon pace.

They have skillets and souvlaki, orange juice and screwdrivers, all ready-to-serve for your weekend aches and pains.

What: Chef Zorba’s Cuisine

Where: 2630 East 12th Avenue

More info: 303-321-0091
