Who: Kayleigh Clark, 7, Robbie Clark, 4, Parker

Where: Palavela Stadium at the Winter Olympics in Turin

Best meal: Ristorante-Pizzeria Catullo on Corso Moncalieri, 176. The restaurant serves a variety of pizza, pasta, seafood and meat. The restaurant is on the River Po and has wonderful views of the river. At night you get a wonderful view of a beautiful lighted bridge that reflects into the water.

Best deal: The ChocoPass for 10 euros. With the ChocoPass, for 24 hours you can try chocolates at 10 shops around Turin. The tastings include the Gianduiotto (Turin’s famous chocolate and hazelnuts), pralines and hot chocolate. The ChocoPass can be purchased at Turismo Torino Information Points.

Best time to go: During the Olympics was wonderful, but very busy! The spring or early summer would be a wonderful time to go, as the weather is nice and the Alps are nearby. Turin has many museums and shopping opportunities. Keep in mind that many places are closed on Mondays and also daily from noon until 3 p.m.

Best travel tip: If you will be in Turin for more than a few days, buy a 72-hour Torino Card at any tobacco shop (tabaccheria). It gives you unlimited access to the public transportation system, which includes trams, buses and museums. One card is good for one adult and one child under 12. Also, be sure to make frequent stops at the chocolate stores and gelato shops – the area is known for chocolates and ice cream!
