Spinney Mountain Reservoir will open Wednesday earlier than anticipated. Gates will swing open at 5:56 a.m., but Colorado State Parks officials will allow eager anglers to begin lining up on the access road at 7 p.m. the previous evening.

The north boat ramp will be in operation, but the south launch will remain closed temporarily. Spinney is only 4.2 feet below maximum capacity. A state parks pass is required for entry.

Elevenmile boating

Elevenmile Reservoir is free of ice and open for boating. All facilities at the popular Park County impoundment near Lake George are operational.

Roadless presentation

Proponents for protection of 4.4 million acres of Colorado roadless forest acres will present 15,000 public comments in support of this action at a 10 a.m. press event near the entrance to the REI Flagship Store, 1416 Platte St. The signatures will be delivered to the Roadless Area Review Task Force, a body appointed by Gov. Bill Owens to deliver a recommendation regarding the dispensation of these lands. A decision is expected this summer.
