The Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League allowed just six hits over two games in shutting out the visiting Colorado Springs Sky Sox in a doubleheader sweep 9-0 and 6-0 on Sunday.

In the first game, Tacoma’s Cha Seung Baek went five innings, striking out five and allowing one hit as the Rainiers hit five home runs. Zach Parker pitched three innings and gave up five earned runs in the loss. In the second game, Jayson Nix went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk for the Sky Sox (0-4), but Tacoma (4-0) hit two more home runs for the win.

Three AFA boxers earn national titles

The Air Force boxing team claimed three national champions at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Championships on Saturday in Reno, Nev.

Willie Lloyd defended his national title with a decision over UNLV’s Jason Morris at 112 pounds. And two boxers won their first titles for Air Force: Ezekiel Ignaco won at 119 pounds with a decision over Army’s Scott Young; and heavyweight Ian Tuznik defeated Navy’s Dave Paddock after the referee stopped the bout in the third round.

Air Force tied Army for second in the team standings with 32 points. UNLV won the team title with 33 points. Navy, last season’s champion, was fourth.
