Who: Chad Brulet and Aaron Loman of Denver
Where: 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin
Best meal: Urbinna – the best meal ever with a set price. Meal included 15 aperitifs (cheeses and appetizers), then a pasta choice, followed by a meat choice, followed by a dessert tray of cream puffs, pies, cakes and the best espresso. Also three bottles of Barolo wine from the region, 40 euros each, unbelievable. You also must have a kabob from one of the many kabob houses topped with french fries.
Best deal: The Egyptian Museum for 8 euros and the happy hour at the bars with tons of free pasta and meats. Check out the Villis wine bar on Emmanuelle II and the 1878 Pub for great people-watching, ask for Pietro; he will help you find anything in town you need.
Best time to go: Winter for great skiing and summer for the wine country.
Best travel tip: If going to northern Italy, visit somewhere.it, which gave us a great deal on an apartment in town next to all the plazas and restaurants. You must travel to Barolo and Alba and taste the fine wines of the area (1999 was the best year for wines).
