Eagles take Game 1 in double overtime
Riley Nelson scored at the 10:36 mark of the second overtime to give the Colorado Eagles a 3-2 win over Bossier- Shreveport and a 1-0 series lead in their Central Hockey League conference finals. Colorado fell behind 2-0 in the first period, then blanked the Mudbugs the rest of the way.
Coloradans among DU recruits
University of Denver men’s basketball coach Terry Carroll announced the signings of three players Tuesday, including two Coloradans.
Shooting guards Nate Rohnert of Chaparral High School and Cedric Hill, who graduated from ThunderRidge in 2004, will join the DU program along with 6-foot-8 forward Adam Tanner of Melbourne, Australia.
Hill and Tanner are junior college transfers and will be juniors next season.
As a Chaparral senior, the 6-5 Rohnert averaged 22.9 points and led his team to a 23-2 record. Hill, 6-2 , led ThunderRidge to the 2004 Class 5A state championship.
